St. Michael church ruins

This church has probably been built at the turn of the 15th century. This small church consists of just one aisle, and the traditional vestry and weapon room on either side. The churh ceiling has never been vaulted, though there has been plans for the vault constructions, but they were never executed.
During the Great Wrath (1714-1721) the church was looted by the Russian forces, and all the treasures disappeared, and in 1740 the foundations of the church began to sink in the soft earth, and the church was abandoned. The renovation os the church was a frequent topic in the parish from the 18th century onwards, but nothing was done. The final blow was the roof caving in in 1890 during a storm. Only in the 1930's the Museum Office performed reparations. The walls were about to fall and they were strenghtened.
